SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Turbomachinery Roll Thread Operator to set up and run thread rolling equipment for critical aerospace and turbomachinery bolting. This position is responsible for producing precision threaded fasteners to tight specifications in a high mix, high compliance manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Set up and operate two die cylindrical thread rolling machines to produce threaded fasteners (bolts, studs, pins) to print.
Interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and process sheets including thread class, pitch diameter, and major/minor diameters.

Select, install, and align thread rolling dies and support tooling; perform die changes, adjustments, and minor repairs as needed.

Perform first article and in process inspections using thread plug/ring gages, micrometers, calipers, and optical/comparator equipment.

Adjust machine parameters (feed, pressure, speed, part orientation, lubrication, etc.) to maintain dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and proper thread form.

Recognize and correct common thread conditions (drunken threads, lap, torn material, taper, out of round, pitch errors).

Work closely with Engineering and Quality on new part trials, capability runs, and problem solving activities.

Complete production and quality documentation accurately (routers, shop travelers, SPC sheets, nonconformance tags).

Follow all safety procedures and housekeeping standards in the work area.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
3+ years’ experience as a thread rolling, thread form, or cold heading operator in a precision fastener or metalworking environment.
Aerospace, turbomachinery, or power generation fastener manufacturing background.
Familiarity with UNJ threads, fillet rolled roots, and controlled under head fillets
Hands on experience rolling external threads on bolts or studs in alloy steels and superalloys (e.g., aerospace or turbomachinery fasteners).
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T and thread callouts (UN/UNJ, metric, etc.).
Proficient with standard inspection tools: micrometers, calipers, thread gages, surface comparators.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills on production machinery.
Ability to stand for a full shift and handle frequent material and tooling changes.

Preferred Experience
•    Experience with SPC, documented setups, and working to AS9100 or similar quality systems.
•    Prior work on round die thread rolling machines (Tesker, Profiroll, , Kinefac, etc.).
•    Prior work with warm roll threading

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
