Job Summary:

The Turbine Engineer (P3) reports to the Manager of Turbine Engineering, Operations, and provides support for wind turbine engineering issues with the primary responsibility of providing solutions to improve overall wind turbine operating performance. The goals of this position are to improve turbine energy capture by both reducing lost energy as well as increasing turbine efficiency and reliability. The position requires the ability to manage complex and time sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with the engineering and operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Applies knowledge to develop and implement solutions to proactively improve plant performance and reliability
  • Interprets and analyzes advanced equipment performance data (e.g., SCADA tags, condition monitoring, power quality, event files) to resolve issues
  • Drives resolution of recurring performance or reliability issues; supports CAPEX/OPEX planning with technical input
  • Operates with moderate independence; proposes and implements engineering solutions within defined parameters
  • Collaborates with adjacent support groups (e.g., asset management, HSE, and compliance); interfaces with suppliers
  • Proactively and effectively interacts with internal and external clients to understand and clarify requirements and provide technical input
  • Interacts and partners with more senior colleagues across multiple departments, which may include leaders; mentors less experienced team members
  • Assess solutions for wind turbine technical issues identified at the wind farms including reliability and performance improvements
  • Provide periodic on-site project management services during the execution of projects
  • Develop data analytical models for wind plant operational performance
  • Produce detailed technical written reports including independent root cause analyses, financial models and payback evaluations, and equipment condition evaluations

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar from an ABET-accredited institution  
  • 4+ years of relevant technical experience; experience with wind power generation preferred
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical system component design, operation, and maintenance
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, and drawings, including one-line, three-line, hydraulic, and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to be self-motivated, remain focused, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-technical colleagues
  • High level of competence of MS Office software programs
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license
  • Ability to perform physical requirements including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations
  • Ability to work in confined spaces or at great heights (200-300 ft) for prolonged periods

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree preferred

Work Environment & Location:

  • Dallas, TX, office-based
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% of the time
  • Travel to and work on wind sites in varied weather conditions, including physically demanding work such as climbing wind turbines

Please Note: This is an in-office role, requiring on site presence in our office a minimum of three days per week with hybrid flexibility of working remotely two days per week, subject to manager and policy approval. #LIHybrid
