The Freeths PCS team is 50 strong growing and spread nationally across our offices.

For 15 consecutive years Freeths’ Trusts, Estate and Tax lawyers have secured a ranking in the UK’s leading legal directory, Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide.

The East Midlands Trusts, Estates and Tax Team is led by Rahul Kotecha and supported by Marie Cooper who are both based Directors in our Nottingham office.

About the role

The team are now seeking an experienced Managing Associate lawyer who is circa. 8-15 years' PQE to join them in the Trusts, Estates and Tax team in Nottingham, however, we could also consider Sheffield or Birmingham as alternative locations; the successful candidate will help progress and supervise the administration all types of estates which are being handled by junior members of the team. These will include taxable and non-taxable estates, estates which may have been settled following family disputes, estates containing relievable assets including business and agricultural property assets and estates with related trusts and estates from which trusts will arise.

The individual should also have experience drafting Estate planning reports and working with business owners/land owners.

The team cover a range of matters for high and ultra-high net worth clients and we have specialists in all areas of trusts, estates and tax with members of the team advising clients with international, agricultural, literary, business and other assets. Directors and Partners all specialise in particular areas, including acting as independent administrators in high net worth contested estates, advising on complex mental capacity issues, administering cross-border estates and advising agricultural clients.

The team is recognised for its ability to work flexibly to find solutions. An example of this is the firm’s Private Wealth Initiative in which members of the Corporate and TET teams work together to build succession and tax plans for business owners.

This role will give you the opportunity to develop professionally, working on high quality instructions alongside leaders in their respective fields. There will be a good level of supervisory responsibilities involved and business development activities will be supported and encouraged.
