POSITION OVERVIEW:

An exciting opportunity to lead our historic therapeutic school, established in 1950. We are seeking a creative, energetic, and compassionate professional who enjoys developing systems, collaborating with teams, and creating a positive school culture.

 

The School Director provides educational leadership, operational oversight, and staff supervision while ensuring compliance with Illinois State Board of Education regulations and maintaining strong relationships with families, school districts, and community partners.

 

Salary: $71,000 plus bonuses

Hours: Monday-Friday

Location: Joliet, IL

 

REPORTS TO: Network Director

 

 

NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT: Network 6

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Knowledgeable in Illinois State Board of Education rules and regulations, including Part 226 and 401.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for all instructional employees at the school.
  • Recruit, evaluate and train employees within the school program.
  • Responsible for establishing and acquiring program core curriculum, educational materials and instructional methods.
  • Supervise the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Acts as the classroom teacher in the event of a teacher absence or vacancy.
  • Develop and implement quarterly staff in-service trainings.
  • Coordinate Illinois Alternative Assessment.
  • Facilitate in all aspects of the referral and intake process for new students.
  • Maintain relationships with school district representatives and staff, serving as the liaison between Trinity Services, Inc., Trinity School and the students’ home school district.
  • Maintain relationships with parents providing supports through open communication.

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Possess outstanding interpersonal skills, have a track record of being a team player, and community-minded, partnering with colleagues, parents, families, and community members.
  • Pay attention to detail, demonstrates strong writing ability, adheres to deadlines, and possesses a strong commitment to meeting the needs of students with diverse disabilities
  • Deep knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and diverse learning needs
  • Expertise in special education programming, IEP development, and compliance (IDEA, ADA, etc.)
  • Ability to lead both educational and therapeutic teams

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
  • Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
  • Be able to complete deep knee squats
  • Be able to push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Operate motor vehicles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
  • Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.A or M.Ed. in Educational Leadership with Principal Endorsement or Teacher Leadership Endorsement is preferred.  A Type 75 endorsement is also acceptable.
  • At least three years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in Special Education.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable regulatory, certification and accreditation requirements and standards involving the Illinois State Board of Education rules and regulations including Part 226 and 401.
