The Tribal Relationship Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding banking relationships with tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and affiliated organizations throughout Oklahoma. This role serves as a primary point of contact for tribal clients, focusing on the acquisition and growth of depository relationships, treasury management services, and commercial lending opportunities. Through strategic business development, community engagement, and active participation in tribal organizations and events, the Tribal Relationship Manager strengthens the bank's presence within tribal communities while delivering financial solutions that support the economic goals of tribal nations and enterprises.


**This position is eligible for remote work for candidates residing in Texas or Oklahoma. Employees who reside within 60 miles of our corporate office or any bank branch will be expected to work on-site at a designated office location.

STATEMENT OF EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain satisfactory attendance
  • Review new files within 48 hours
  • Close all loans on or before expected closing date
  • Keep accurate and updated notes on every loan file in our Loan Origination System

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain strong business relationships with tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and affiliated organizations throughout Oklahoma.

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for assigned tribal nation and tribal enterprise clients.

  • Identify, develop, and secure new depository banking relationships as the primary business development focus.
  • Promote and expand treasury management services by assessing client needs and recommending appropriate cash management, payment, fraud prevention, and liquidity solutions.
  • Generate and manage commercial lending opportunities with tribal governments and tribal enterprises, partnering with internal credit and lending teams to structure and deliver financing solutions.
  • Develop and execute strategic calling plans to increase market penetration and strengthen the organization's presence within tribal communities.
  • Coordinate with commercial banking, treasury management, credit, and other internal business partners to provide comprehensive financial solutions for tribal clients.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of tribal governance structures, sovereign nation considerations, tribal economic development initiatives, and the unique financial needs of tribal governments and enterprises.
  • Represent the bank at tribal conferences, industry events, community functions, and networking opportunities to strengthen relationships and identify business opportunities.
  • Attend and actively participate in key tribal-focused organizations and events, including but not limited to the Oklahoma Tribal Financial Consortium, The Gathering, Sovereignty Symposium, American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Oklahoma, Reservation Economic Summit (RES), and other relevant tribal and economic development forums.
  • Develop referral networks with tribal leaders, economic development professionals, attorneys, consultants, and other stakeholders within the tribal business community.
  • Monitor client relationships to identify opportunities for cross-selling additional banking products and services while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, business proposals, relationship reviews, and strategic financial recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, pipeline management, and business development efforts within the bank's customer relationship management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable laws governing commercial banking activities.
  • Meet or exceed established goals for deposit growth, treasury management revenue, commercial loan production, and overall relationship profitability.
  • Travel frequently throughout Oklahoma and, as needed, nationally to meet with tribal clients, attend industry conferences, and support business development initiatives.

Qualifications

ENVIRONMENT AND INTERACTION

This position operates in a professional banking environment with extensive travel throughout Oklahoma to meet with tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and community partners. The role requires frequent attendance at tribal conferences, networking events, and economic development functions, including occasional evening and weekend commitments. Success in this position requires strong relationship-building skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to effectively manage multiple client and business development activities in a dynamic, community-focused setting.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively in various office, client, and event settings for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout Oklahoma and occasionally outside the state to attend client meetings, conferences, and business development events.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment and lift or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds as needed for presentations and events.
PROFICIENCIES
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills with the ability to establish credibility and build trusted partnerships with tribal governments, tribal enterprises, and community leaders.

  • Knowledge of commercial banking products and services, including depository accounts, treasury management solutions, and commercial lending.
  • Understanding of tribal governance structures, tribal sovereignty, and the unique financial and business needs of tribal entities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, develop strategic calling plans, and achieve business development and revenue growth goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial banking, treasury management, business development, or relationship management.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business and growing depository, treasury management, and lending relationships.
  • Experience working with tribal governments, tribal enterprises, Native American communities, or economic development organizations strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial banking products and services, with the ability to travel extensively and represent the bank at client and industry events.

Skills Required
