Triage Engineer - Connected Vehicle Certificate Systems
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
As members of an Agile team, the Connected Vehicle Triage team works closely with development, operations, product owners and program managers to understand the requirements that drive the design and ensure secure, quality, feasible technical solutions. The function of the Connected Vehicle Certificate Solutions team is to champion the collaboration and communication between development, triage, and operations in order to establish a culture where building, testing, and releasing secure software happens rapidly and frequently with minimal re-work. It is also vital for this role to suggest process improvements to drive and utilizes metrics increasing efficiencies.
The Role
The Triage Engineer for Connected Vehicle Certificate Systems will be a key contributor in assisting teams with the implementation and use of certificates within the Connected Vehicle workflows supporting vehicle and data security.
This position will embody GM behaviors and competencies and be proficient in understanding the various environments and be able to actively identify issues. This role will be viewed as a critical team member on a small team and will work with other teams while building strong relationships. We are looking for someone who is passionate about software development and its quality. Being flexible wit change will be crucial as we adjust to varied agile implementations across the software organization. This position will envision and assist in designing test frameworks.
What You'll Do
- Work with Agile software methodology
- Develop test plans, procedures that comprehend Connected Vehicle Certificate Systems functionalities and execute them in system with minimal direction of others
- Analyze defects, determine root cause, report them to the development team, test, perform peer reviews and verify closure
- Perform integration, bench level testing, and capture and analyze data to resolve issues
- Triage system level nonconformities, issues to the appropriate offending systems like module, app, other platform teams
- Document all anomalies, issues using existing documentation tools (PRTS/ADO/RTC/Jira etc.)
- Follow issue resolution from issue origination thru verification, closure, and monitoring
- Work with teams from multiple groups to understand meet project milestones
- Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among software team
- Work efficiently and effectively, to identify defect and risk that should be addressed during development test and for release readiness
- Assist in the design and reusable of automation test frameworks in Linux, Android and Cloud environment using scripting languages
- Assist in the generation of technical test solutions for software components for all programs and workflows
- Eager to learn new technologies and implement findings in the day to day activities
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive industry
- Triage / Testing Engineering experience
- Must be familiar with tools in Linux, Android and Cloud application software
- Must be familiar with documentation tools (PRTS/ADO/RTC/Jira etc.)
- High level of analytical and decision-making abilities where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areas
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Graduate level degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Experience working within the OnStar environmental systems
- Red X Technical Problem Solving and Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) certifications
