Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Trend Specialist to join our Trend Studio team on a fixed term parental leave contract.

This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded, intermediate level designer who loves turning trends and ideas into products customers genuinely connect with.  You’ll play a key role in identifying emerging trends, developing creative concepts and brining licenced and private-label products to life across our kid’s categories.

Working closely with merchandise, Sourcing, and Marketing teams, you’ll translate trends into compelling graphics, prints, colour palettes and product concepts that resonate with Kiwi families.

What You’ll Do:

  • Research and interpret global and local trends across kids' products and consumer categories.
  • Develop trend boards, mood boards, colour palettes and seasonal concepts.
  • Design graphics, prints and creative assets for licensed and private-label products.
  • Translate trend insights into commercially relevant product opportunities.
  • Create compelling visual storytelling that brings products and ranges to life.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver trend-right, customer-focused ranges.

Qualifications

We're looking for an established designer who combines creativity with commercial thinking and can confidently take concepts from ideation through to execution.

This role is best suited to an established intermediate-level designer with demonstrated experience delivering commercially successful product ranges. We're looking for someone who can bring strong creative capability, technical expertise and a passion for creating products that customers love.

This role is focused on product graphics and product development rather than marketing or brand design. We're seeking a designer with experience creating graphics, prints and artwork for products sold at retail, ideally across licensed and private-label ranges.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in Product Graphic Design, Product Design, Licensed Product Design or Trend Design, ideally within a retail, apparel or consumer products environment.
  • Experience working within a large retailer, big-box retailer or consumer products environment.
  • Strong experience creating graphics, prints and artwork for physical products, with experience designing licensed products and/or private-label ranges.
  • Exceptional graphic design skills, with strong technical design capability and advanced Adobe Creative Suite expertise.
  • Experience designing for boys' and girls' categories, ideally within the 3-7 year age range.
  • Strong commercial awareness, trend forecasting capability and stakeholder management skills.
