Job Responsibilities
- Promote and champion Zero Harm and Zero Waste initiatives and culture across all plant operations and personnel
- Ensures direct reports abide by Life Saving Rules and the SH&E policies while performing tasks resulting in a quality product treated to customer specifications.
- Assist in maintaining the Responsible Care 14001 and ISO 9001 Programs including participating in the audits
- Develop and implement department specific on-the-job (OJT) training program
- Lead department regulatory compliance trainings
- Responsible for drip pad crew and operations including communicating and staffing for cylinder changes
- Responsible for oversight of oil tank car unloading and meeting residue reduction guidelines.
- Manages the lab and oversees the Quality Tech position, making sure lab tests are performed correctly, and that the railroad tie inventory is accurate.
- Oversees the gas fired boiler for the treating process by ensuring it is running efficiently.
- Turns in charge reports and other paperwork in a timely manner.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; BS in Wood Science or Business preferred.
- 3 years of manufacturing experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience; 3-5 years of management experience in wood treating or chemical process manufacturing preferred
- SH&E awareness required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience in a union environment
- Team player
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products
- Ability to set priorities and analyze problems
