Position Summary
The Treasury Specialist – Construction Accounting plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company’s Treasury functions. The role is primarily responsible, under moderate supervision, for preparing reports, submitting wire transfer requests, and funding Encompass loans. The role is responsible for various bank activity and accounting reconciliations.
Compensation
This role is a non-exempt position with a targeted salary range of $24/hr to $29/hr.
Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant’s geographical location.
Essential Functions
- Prepare initial close workbooks and imports for loans funding through Encompass (Construction products).
- Fund loans through warehouse line and update Encompass accordingly.
- Communicate with Construction group along with other departments on ad hoc requests (payoffs, TCB draws, modifications).
- Prepare margin call reports for quarterly NMLS reporting.
- Prepare monthly borrower billing statements for Construction and Builder loans.
- Reconcile Reverse product loan advances.
- Prepare Reverse product loan entries including Reverse securitization journal entries.
- Review batch processed wire activity for accuracy and verify amounts are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Reconcile accounts and verify entries are clearing in a timely manner and according to established procedures and guidelines.
- Perform multiple account reconciliations as well as daily bank reconciliations.
- Perform and thoroughly research monthly reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries to General Ledger via LoanVision.
- Process Corporate check deposits and record accordingly.
- Work to increase team efficiency by providing recommendations for process improvement.
- Cross-train in other Treasury functions; act as a back-up when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned (to include short and term projects), as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, required.
- Minimum two years' experience in accounting or finance related role(s).
- Mortgage banking experience with an emphasis in construction accounting preferred.
- General knowledge of accounting principles, including debits and credits, reconciliations, balance sheets and income statements.
- General understanding of overall mortgage process rules and regulations, policies and ethical standards pertaining to wire transfers.
- Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment required.
- Ability to analyze situations and choose appropriate course of action to resolve issues.
- Highly proficient with data entry, Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
- Intermediate Excel experience with the ability to create formulas and VLOOKUP’s.
- 10-key by touch preferred.
- Prior experience using document retention software; AIQ preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.
