BHS Corrugated is seeking a traveling Production Technician/NICE Roll Technician to join our growing team in our Knoxville, TN facility!
Summary:
This position is responsible for the installation, service and inspection of NICE corrugating roll assemblies at the customer site. Requires a strong working understanding of corrugating roll theory and manufacturing, to include assessment of TIR, coating condition, flute depth, flute profile and the condition of the steam system. Additionally, this position will be familiar with bearing installation, cassette assembly and adjustment, both in Knoxville and at the Customer. The position reports directly to Knoxville, plant 4200, but requires up to 50% travel within the US and Canada to support NICE customers. This individual will train at our Knoxville facility for 4 to 6 months to gain understanding and skills to perform installations and inspections at the customers.
Responsibilities:
- Cart Assembly: Repair and assemble carts and rolls with all associated hardware and plumbing. This includes bushing replacement, part refurbishment and any additional procedures required to refurbish the cassette.
- Perform Incoming inspection and assessment of both rolls and cassettes. Perform inventory, assessment cleaning and documentation of incoming cart and corrugating rolls
- Bearing installation: Install bearings and races on outbound rolls per sales order requirements. Wrap and pack rolls in caskets for shipment. Verify all parts are included.
- Perform pressure test, and identify potential system failures such as leaks, cracks our faulty steam fittings.
- Inspect rolls to ensure TIR, flute depth and profile is within tolerance.
- Responsible for the installation and start-up of NICE corrugating rolls and cassette at customer sites.
- Performs NICE roll inspections to determine roll condition, serviceability and help forecast remaining roll serviceability.
- When not scheduled for installations or inspections at the customer site, this position will perform tasks in Knoxville that support Production or reinforce skills needed for the NICE Requirements
Requirements:
- Flexibility to travel 50% of the year, work weekends and overtime. Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- Lifting and rigging: Basic crane and rigging ability. This includes inspections of chains, slings and hoist for serviceability.
- Forklift Operation: Safely operate forklift, perform pre-use inspection, understand operating limits
- Torch and tool operation: Safely operate oxy acetylene torch as well as power and hand tools
- Physical Requirements - Ability to stand for at least 45 minutes at a time and lift 35 pounds at waist level.
- Ability to use computers, SAP and MS office applications.
- At least 2 years manufacturing or mechanical experience.
Salary and Benefits:
This is a full-time position offering $20-$28+/hour with potential OT at increased rates. Dependent on level of qualification and status of travel. We also offer full benefits as seen below!
