Job Description:
This position is responsible for transporting of patients, focusing on quality, safety, and customer service, while providing care and compassion to patients, families, visitors and staff.
Day Shifts
Scope
- As a Transporter II, you need to know how to:
- Interact with patients, family members, nursing, and technical staff.
- Follow established department procedures to accurately verify and transport the proper patient by visually checking patient identification.
- Transport patients, charts, specimens, and required equipment to various treatment and diagnostic areas throughout the hospital in a safe and efficient manner 100% of the time. Provide emergency assistance to patients who become ill during transport process until clinical staff can be notified and assistance arrives.
- Verify mode of transportation, obtains patient chart, necessary paperwork, required linens, and/or equipment. Notify nursing staff of patient being transported and the destination.
- Initiate or assist in transfer process of patients from bed to mode of transportation.
- Request and obtain instruction or assistance from nursing staff for patients who require isolation techniques, two-man lifts, bedpan or restroom assistance, or who has support devices requiring special handling.
- Return patient to bed utilizing proper transfer techniques 100% of the time to avoid injury to patient and/or self. Verify that patients basic needs are satisfied upon return to bed. Place call light beside table and similar items within patients reach. Offer to put away personal items and report patients needs to nursing staff before leaving the unit. Report patient has been returned to nursing unit.
- Notify dispatcher of completion of assigned duties and proceeds as instructed. If a delay problem occurs in transporting a patient, transporter informs dispatcher immediately and proceeds according to instruction issued.
- Fully trained dispatcher.
- Return equipment promptly to proper location after use using proper infection control procedures. Collect and clean equipment at designated times per established department procedures.
- Transport patients upon discharge, helping the patient in and out of vehicles at entrances.
- Follow up on complaints, provide solutions, and report issues to supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
- - High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- - Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program or EMT Basic program, required
- - Current Colorado EMT certification, preferred- Current BLS certification, required within 60 days of hire
- At least one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferred- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, preferred

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$18.81 - $22.88
