Operates state vehicles to transport passengers, mail and materials within an assigned area; ensures vehicle safety; performs/assists with preventive vehicle maintenance and light facility housekeeping; assigns vehicles, completes documentation, and provides customer-focused service. Travels between sites, may lift up to 15 lbs, and must hold required Georgia operator license. Pre-employment drug testing required.

May perform and/or assist with routine maintenance of vehicles. May perform general maintenance of office areas and grounds. May make vehicle assignments to staff.

  • Operates a motor vehicle in order to transport passengers and/or mail and materials.
  • Reports all accidents, incidents and/or breakdowns involving vehicle(s) while in use.
  • Performs and/or assists with preventive maintenance of vehicles. May perform general maintenance of office areas and grounds.
  • Assigns available vehicles to employees.
  • Completes and submits appropriate documentation for area of assignment.
  • Maintains a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to consumers, the general public and other external customers.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED AND Any combination of training and experience which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Required licenses and certification: Class 1 Georgia motor vehicle operator’s license. Note: when operating vehicles 80 inches wide or wider, designed to carry more than 10 passengers, a class III operator’s license is required.

Work Environment: This job requires driving an agency vehicle to transport consumers within the service area.   Travel between Gateway sites and the community is required.


Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop.  Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.  Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer.  Employee frequently uses fine hand/eye coordination, hearing and visual acuity.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant condition caused by noise, dust, etc. Employee must be able to travel between Gateway sites.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Skills Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Class 1 Georgia motor vehicle operator's license (Class III required for vehicles >80 inches or >10 passengers)
  • Ability to operate state vehicle following all safety laws and procedures
  • Ability to perform or assist with preventive vehicle maintenance and report repairs
  • Ability to complete daily housekeeping chores and maintain office/grounds
  • Ability to complete and submit required documentation and prepare area specific reports
  • Ability to observe and monitor participant behavior and identify disruptive behavior
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and serve as liaison with stakeholders
  • Ability to frequently walk, sit, stand, kneel and lift/move up to 15 pounds
