The Role
About the role:Reporting to the Transport Manager, this is a key support role where you’ll focus on co-ordinating and arranging all our internal/external haulage requirements, from initial booking of contractors and on time delivery of consignments, through to the completion of associated documentation.Your responsibilities:
- Develop and implement daily and weekly transport plans based on customer requirements, service levels, and fleet availability.
- Optimize routes using transport planning software to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and enhance fuel efficiency.
- Coordinate with drivers, warehouse teams, third-party haulers, and customer service departments to ensure timely deliveries.
- Monitor live transport operations and resolve any disruptions or delays promptly.
- Maintain and update transport management systems (TMS) with accurate and timely information.
- Ensure all transport activities comply with Irish and EU transport legislation, including tachograph and driver hour regulations.
- Analyse KPIs (e.g., OTIF, fuel usage, vehicle utilization) and prepare performance reports for senior management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including carbon reduction and digital transformation in logistics.
- Liaise with customers to address any transport-related issues or complaints in a professional manner.
- Stay informed about industry trends, fuel prices, and regulatory changes impacting transport planning.
- Extensive experience in a similar transport planning or logistics coordination role.
- Strong knowledge of EU transport regulations and driver hours.
- Proficient in transport planning software (e.g. SAP TM) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) is an advantage.
- Full clean driving license is beneficial.
