SLR have a fantastic new opportunity for someone currently at graduate or project engineer level and demonstrable experience of S278 and S38 in a consultancy, to join our collaborative and growing Transport Engineering team.

The role
Your key duties will involve the preparation of detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports on a variety of projects. Alongside this, you will also have the opportunity to take responsibility for project management, budgeting, producing bill of quantities, and costings. 

  • Provide assurance that scheme designs comply with specification and agreed programme
  • Work to ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations and CDM requirements
  • Alongside colleagues, ensure designs are assessed for environmental impacts

About you
We are looking for an Engineer with consulting experience around the design and management of the Section 278/38 process, as well as:

  • Sound knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets
  • Ability to engage and conduct effective negotiations with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation
  • Competent in use of CAD, Vehicle Tracking and knowledge of Civil 3D

Skills Required

  • Experience at graduate or project engineer level
  • Demonstrable experience of Section 278 (S278) and Section 38 (S38) processes in a consultancy
  • Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)
  • Knowledge of Manual for Streets
  • Competent in use of CAD software
  • Competent in Vehicle Tracking software
  • Knowledge and use of Civil 3D
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and CDM requirements
  • Ability to engage and negotiate with clients, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties
  • Experience preparing detailed design, feasibility studies and scheme reports
