We are searching for a Transport EMT– someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will perform a variety of routine and specialized patient care activities, as assigned, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The Transport Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will operate in a dual role acting as both an EMT transport team member and as a communication specialist in the Transport Center.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an Emergency Vehicle Operation Course (EVOC) required   
  • BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support American Heart Association required   
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Tech Texas Department of State Health Services required or   
  • EMT-B - Emergency Medical Tech-Basic Texas Department of State Health Services required or   
  • EMT-I - Emergency Medical Tech-Interm Texas Department of State Health Services required or   
  • EMT-A - Advanced EMT Texas Department of State Health Services required or   
  • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Tech-Parame Texas Department of State Health Services required or   
  • LIC PAR - Lic-Paramedic Texas Department of State Health Services required 
  • Dispatch skills highly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient care through policies, protocols and guidelines delegated by the RN or RRT within the EMT scope of practice   
  • Provides high quality patient care and customer service   
  • Obtain and document vital signs and physiological values using appropriate monitors. Respond appropriately to alarms and notify the RN of abnormal findings   
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning patient/family issues and demonstrates sensitivity to information, ensuring privacy by understanding HIPPA laws as it pertains to health information   
  • Ensures timely response to campus emergencies by rapid/accurate deployment of the code response team in the Transport Center

Skills Required
