The role
As one of our Transport Assistant Site Managers, you will be the driving force behind our fast-paced Dearne Valley Transport operation. Your core mission is to keep our traffic operation running smoothly, accurately, and cost-effectively, ensuring absolute compliance with all Road Transport Regulations and protecting our 'O' licence requirements. Working closely with the Transport Site Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of First Line Managers and drivers to maintain our exceptional high standards. The position is based at Manvers, Rotherham working Monday - Friday 14:00 - 22:30. At NEXT, we are committed to your growth; you will receive comprehensive support and the necessary training to seamlessly embed into our world-class logistics network and confidently deputise for the Site Manager when required.
What you'll take on
Lead and manage the transport operation, ensuring all yard and traffic activities run safely, efficiently, and to budget.
Manage, coach, and develop a team of First Line Managers, empowering them to drive performance and effectively lead a large team of drivers.
Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) across the shift, leading by example to maintain high operational standards.
Oversee and ensure full compliance with all relevant Road Transport Regulations, tackling complex employment or operational challenges proactively.
Collaborate and build positive relationships with the wider management team, colleagues, and internal stakeholders to deliver seamless distribution outcomes.
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to achieve cost savings against budget without compromising on quality or safety.
What you'll bring
A National CPC licence for Transport Managers is essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of Road Transport Regulations.
Proven experience managing a large-scale transport or distribution operation within a fast-paced retail or logistics environment.
Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of managing other managers and successfully handling complex employment situations.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, allowing you to collaborate effectively across the wider business.
A self-motivated and organised approach, with the confidence to act as the senior leader on-site during the night shift.
A natural ability to coach and develop others, fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.

Skills Required
- National CPC licence for Transport Managers
