<The Translation and Communication Specialist> 

 

The Team 

The Translation and Communication team is part of a department that acts as the business point of contact for our global partners who develop and sell game software for PlayStation. Under global leadership, the Global Account Management (GAM) team, which the Translation and Communication team sits under, supports both PlayStation and our partners business through internal and external coordination. Consisting of around 50 members world-wide, GAM is responsible for being the point of contact for partner headquarters and their local offices, execution of business discussions, negotiations, and presentation for our partners, and coordination and reporting to internal global leadership.  

 

The Position 

The Translation and Communication Specialist is responsible for working with the Senior Specialist to create an approach to translation, interpretation, and cross-cultural communication mainly for the GAM team with the goal to enable the removal of language and culture as a barrier to nuanced internal and external business communication across the third-party business. The Translation and Communication Specialist will provide interpretation for internal and external meetings, and translation of emails and documents to and from Japanese and English. Additionally, the Translation and Communication Specialist will work with the Senior Specialist in the development of structure and processes to enable efficient use of centralized resources, dedicated resources, and tools including AI. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide interpretation and translation for internal and external engagements that include, but are not limited to meetings, emails, and documents. 

  • Develop the third-party translation resource, tooling plan, and standards (when to use dedicated resources, when to use centralized translation, when to use machine translation, etc.) 

  • Work on creating cultural communication training mainly for the GAM team to enable better understanding of cultural context, conversation patterns and communication styles. 

  • Opportunity to expand scope to manage Chinese and Korean languages (a rolodex of common vendors/partners to use for interpretation, a lexicon that covers these languages, process planning for resource and tooling, cultural communication training, et al) 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Native level bilingual in both English and Japanese 

  • 3+ years of experience working in translation / interpretation, or 4+ years of working in an environment where English was the main language used 

  • BtoB work experience 

  • Knowledge and/or interest in the gaming market and industry, and general knowledge of video games 

  • Highly detail oriented 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Deep understanding of the video game industry and video games 

  • 4+ years working or living in a multi-cultural environment 

  • Experience with creating business-level documentation

本ポジションでは日本語と英語を使用し、社内外の会議の通訳や、メールと資料の翻訳を行います。また、Senior Translation and Communication Specialistと共に業務の効率化を図り言語や文化に関わるリソース作り、AIなどのツールの取入れ方法、プロセスの構築などを担います。 

 

主な業務内容: 

  • 会議、メールや資料を含む社内外のコミュニケーションにおける通訳と翻訳。 

  • サードパーティー事業のエンゲージメントにおけるリソースやツールの使用方法の策定や基準を構築AIを含む通訳や翻訳方法適切な使用方法や使用基準の策定など) 

  • チーム全体の文化的な背景、会話パターンやコミュニケーションスタイルの理解を深めるため、主にGAMチーム向けの文化の違いを軸にしたコミュニケーション手法などのトレーニングを実施。 

  • 中国語と韓国語の翻訳・通訳クオリティの維持に向けた作業も今後発生する可能性あり(通訳を外注する代理店の管理、これら言語の単語集の管理、リソースやツールのプロセスづくりやプランニング、文化の違いを軸にしたコミュニケーション手法のトレーニングなど) 

 

必須要件 

  • 英語と日本語でネイティブレベルの言語スキルとコミュニケーション能力 

  • 3年以上の通訳・翻訳経験あるいは4年以上の英語言語とする環境での勤務経験 

  • BtoB業務の経験 

  • ゲーム市場やゲーム業界への理解・関心、また、ゲームに関する一般的な知識 

  • 細部まで注意を払い、丁寧かつ正確にやり遂げる能力
