Smith+Nephew is hiring: Transition Network Engineer
What will you be doing?
- The main focus of this role is configure and deploy infrastructure for Network projects and maintaining architectural standards.
- Execute and adapt implementation scripts based on prepared network designs.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to validate and run configuration scripts for Cisco devices.
- Support access point configuration and deployment.
- Perform hands-on implementation tasks including equipment setup and validation.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting during the rollout phase to ensure stable performance.
- Create/update documentation related to implemented configurations.
What will you need to be successful?
- 3+ years of experience in network implementation or operations, with hands-on knowledge of enterprise networks.
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related field.
- Strong experience with Cisco network equipment, including routers, switches, and access points.
- Ability to read, understand, and modify network configuration scripts.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, WLAN, and NAC.
- Practical troubleshooting skills in complex network environments; experience with Cisco DNAC or similar tools is a plus.
- CCNA certification, prior large-scale rollout experience, familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds), and flexibility for occasional after-hours work are desirable.
