Job Description SummaryThis entry level position will make immediate contributions to the team responsible for Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) transient analyses, while being technically mentored by a team of high performing engineers. The individual will work within an energetic team environment to perform thermal-hydraulic and plant transient analyses to support a variety of applications including BWR reload analysis and power uprate analyses. The position offers limitless opportunity to learn the fundamental bases of nuclear power plant operations and safety analysis by applying state-of-the-art thermal hydraulics methods to satisfy licensing requirements and solve real day to day plant problems. Additionally, this position has direct customer-facing opportunities through training, deliverables, and collaboration. The transient analysis team offers unique opportunities to create and/or improve cutting-edge automation and methods.
The individual will lead a variety of projects including technical evaluations and analyses in the area of plant transients, thermal hydraulics, Anticipated Transients without Scram, Heat Balances and thermal hydraulic fuel channel analyses. This individual will deliver products at a consistently high and sustainable level in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Quickly learn and apply analytical methods, procedures, and techniques to solve problems.
  • Work effectively and make positive contributions in a dynamic team environment.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations.
  • Provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the area of transient analysis.
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
  • Implement continual improvement of transient analysis work processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GVH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC or the Atlanta, GA location.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic systems codes.
  • Background in power plant or process plant thermal hydraulics.
  • Possess fundamental knowledge of BWR Systems and integrated plant response.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $69,600.00 and $120,200.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
