The opportunity
We are looking for a future specialist in the validation of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES). As one of the world’s largest consumers of GOES, we source material from global suppliers and rely on rigorous testing to ensure consistent quality and performance across all grades. This includes laboratory-scale analysis of mechanical and electromagnetic properties, pilot testing in full-size transformers, and continuous monitoring of quality in routine production.
If you're passionate about materials science and electrical engineering, and want to contribute to the future of energy technology, we encourage you to apply.
How you’ll make an impact
- Coordinating with supply chain management to determine which grades and suppliers are strategic priorities.
- Ensuring that GOES samples are delivered to Hitachi Energy labs and tested according to instructions.
- Supporting factories in selecting transformer units and designs for the tests and minimizing the risks involved in the testing.
- Planning and supervising the manufacturing and testing of pilot transformers to ensure that the results can be leveraged to improve future transformers.
- Documenting the results in reports and summarizing for easy reference.
- Maintaining a database of quality and performance metrics of individual GOES suppliers and grades and supporting factories when selecting grades.
- Supporting additional transformer testing for R&D (e.g. making pilots to test design improvements).
Your background
- You have a Master’s degree in Science or Engineering, preferably in physics or electrical engineering.
- Previous experience with transformer design is beneficial, but not a requirement.
- Proven experience in project management is a merit.
- Strong communication skills.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken. Knowledge in Swedish is beneficial.
What we offer
- Collective agreement
- Flexible working time
- Health care and wellness allowance
- Fantastic career possibilities within Hitachi Energy both within Sweden and globally
- Mentor to support you throughout onboard phase
- Various trainings and education supporting employee development
- Diversified company with over 70+ nationalities working in Sweden
- Supplementary compensation for parental leave
- Employee Benefit Portal with thousands of discounts and perks
