Minimum Pay: $18.57MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year of transcription or medical setting experience.
Other Credentials:
Knowledge and Skills: Intermediate computer skills.
Special Training: Associate's degree program training in medical transcription preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and legal terminology preferred. Medical transcription certification preferred.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Detail oriented. Ability to spot inconsistencies in data. Good understanding of English language. Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Receives and transcribes accurately verbal interpretations from physicians within departmental timeframes.
- Verifies accuracy of patient information, inputs data and information into appropriate records, reports and computer information system.
- Proofs transcribed reports for correct spelling, accuracy, punctuation and grammar making necessary changes without changing meaning of sentence(s). Receives corrected reports and makes all necessary changes indicated as evidenced by addendum reports.
- Distributes timely reports consistent with established procedures and processes, faxes and or delivers transcribed reports as needed or required.
- Sorts and files all reports and forms as required consistent with established filing system practices as evidenced by ability to find reports in the department file room.
- Receives incoming phone calls promptly and directs to appropriate party, takes accurate messages and/or provides information, promptly responds to questions and inquires received via voice mail.
- Maintains a HIPPA compliant workspace at all times. Ensures that all patient identification or demographic information is maintained in a secure manner at all times.
- Trains new transcriptionists in the use of transcription equipment/software as required.
- Schedules and confirms appointments as needed as evidenced by departmental documentation tools.
- Monitors supply inventory and orders supplies as necessary to maintain an acceptable and efficient level of supplies.
- Prepares EMG examination room, ensures all necessary patient demographic information is entered correctly, ensures all recording materials (e.g. electrodes, gel, tape, Band-Aids) are readily available. Saves all examination data and prints report. Ensures timely resulting of all examination charges
