JOB SUMMARY: The Training Specialist assists the program supervisor in coordinating the DC Pre-Apprenticeship Construction program. The position helps prepare lesson plans, conduct training and satisfaction surveys, provide tutoring support, coordinate the testing process, evaluate test results, and maintain student records and case notes. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Collaborate with the Program Supervisor in publicity, outreach, student enrollment, orientation, and operations in accord with project quality standards. 
  1. Conduct classroom training sessions. Act as a substitute teacher in the absence of instructors. Participate in regular meetings with teachers, students, and coordinators. 
  2. Provide student support for site visits for the program and students (educational, Habitat training). 
  3. Provide tutoring support as needed to students in the classroom. 
  4. Administer student tests and evaluate test results, including CASAS, PACT, and NCEER curriculum. Assist coordinator in keeping track of student certifications.  
  5. Assist in administering satisfaction surveys to students and contractors. 
  6. Collaborate with team members from the Workforce Development Program to ensure clients have the needed resources and support to prepare for, gain, and retain employment.
  • Conduct client intake, assessment, client follow-up, and upkeep of program files ensuring adherence to project quality standards. 
  1. Perform client intake, assessment, and follow-up.
  2. Monitor and maintain statistical program data in Case Worthy including modifications to present reports and systems as needed. 
  3. Report accurate statistics including program outputs and outcomes. 
  4. Locate and compile program data to include formatting reports, graphs, tables, records, and other sources of information.  
  • Prepare required reports, program surveys, and promotional materials. 
  1. Help prepare grant monitoring reports. 
  2. Administer satisfaction surveys to clients. 
  3. Prepare promotional material for programs. 
  • Collaborate with instructors and consultants in the preparation of lesson plans.  
  • Attend Agency meetings, community seminars, outreach events, and government as well as private foundations events.  
  • Participate in quality improvement and actively comply with quality improvement initiatives.   Perform appropriate tasks and quality improvement projects for accreditation (COA). 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience in a training environment.
  • Experience working with the Latino community.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Bilingual, Spanish-English.
  • Skill in using computers, preferably in a PC, or Windows-based operating environment.

Skills Required
