Position Summary
Butcher Power Products is experiencing significant growth and is establishing its first formal Training Department to support workforce readiness, operational excellence, employee development, and long-term growth.
Today, training is primarily delivered through on-the-job experience, departmental knowledge transfer, and informal coaching. We are looking for a Training Manager to help build a more structured and scalable approach that improves new hire readiness, promotion readiness, frontline supervisor capability, safety performance, quality outcomes, and overall workforce effectiveness.
Working alongside operational leaders, HR leadership, subject matter experts, and external consulting partners, you will help design, implement, improve, and scale a hands-on training program tailored specifically to BPP's workforce, culture, and operational environment.
This role is an opportunity to build something meaningful. While we intend to leverage proven concepts and best practices from established organizations, the Training Manager will help create a workforce development program designed specifically for Butcher Power Products.
You will report to the Director of HR & Talent and partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, Recruiting, and HR leaders across the business.
What You Will Do
Build BPP's Training Function
- Help establish BPP's first formal training department and workforce readiness program.
- Partner with leadership, subject matter experts, and consultants to develop training systems, standards, and processes.
- Build a scalable foundation for workforce development and employee growth.
Develop Workforce Readiness Programs
- Create structured learning pathways for new hires, promotions, and frontline supervisors.
- Improve employee job readiness and speed to proficiency.
- Support internal career growth and workforce capability development.
Lead Manufacturing & Technical Training
- Develop hands-on training programs for manufacturing and technical employees.
- Create skills-based qualification and certification programs.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Safety to align training with business needs.
Improve Onboarding Effectiveness
- Own the training content and learning pathways for onboarding programs.
- Partner with Recruiting and HR to improve new hire readiness and ramp-up speed.
- Ensure employees receive the training necessary to work safely and effectively.
Develop Frontline Supervisors & Future Leaders
- Build development programs for supervisors, managers, and emerging leaders.
- Improve leadership readiness and promotion readiness across the organization.
- Support succession planning and internal mobility initiatives.
Lead Future Trainers & Training Resources
- Build and lead BPP's future training team.
- Coach trainers and establish standards for training quality and effectiveness.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Measure training effectiveness and workforce readiness outcomes.
- Use operational data and employee feedback to improve programs over time.
- Ensure training evolves with organizational growth and changing business needs.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in training, organizational development, manufacturing operations, HR, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of training, workforce development, learning, or operational training experience.
- 2+ years of leadership experience managing training initiatives or programs.
- Experience developing and implementing training programs in manufacturing, industrial, technical, or operational environments.
- Strong communication, facilitation, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting a high-growth manufacturing organization.
- Experience standing up a training function or leading a major training transformation.
- Experience developing frontline supervisors and leadership programs.
- Experience working with external consultants and training partners.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
A Note on the Role
This is a build-and-scale role. BPP is establishing its first formal Training Department and workforce readiness program. While we intend to leverage proven concepts, frameworks, and best practices from established organizations, we are building a training model specifically designed for BPP's workforce, culture, operational environment, and growth plans.
The initial focus will be creating hands-on training programs that improve new hire readiness, promotion readiness, frontline supervisor capability, safety performance, quality outcomes, and overall workforce effectiveness. Success in this role requires a combination of strategic thinking, practical implementation, relationship building, and continuous improvement.
As BPP continues to grow, so will the Training function. We plan to grow from 150 to 600+ headcount, over the next two years. This role presents a unique opportunity to help build the systems, programs, and team that will support the company's long-term workforce development strategy.
The base pay range for this role is $130,000 – $155,000 per year.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, HR, Education, Business, Industrial Education, or equivalent experience
- Seven or more years of experience in learning and development, training, organizational development, or workforce development
- Three or more years leading a training function, program, or team
- Hands-on experience building training programs for frontline manufacturing or production workers
- Experience designing skills assessments and training certification programs, including qualification standards and recertification
- Experience developing trade skills training (assembly, wiring, electrical, mechanical, or comparable hands-on production disciplines)
- Experience developing production supervisors and frontline leaders
- Demonstrated success designing and launching training programs from the ground up
- Experience administering an LMS, training records, and learning analytics
- Strong facilitation, project management, and stakeholder partnership skills
- Ability to translate operational needs into practical production-floor training
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing, high-growth environment
- Electrical equipment, switchgear, panel assembly, or wire harness manufacturing experience
- Experience standing up a training function within an early-stage or high-growth organization
- Experience rolling out a proven training program to a new site, business unit, or acquired company
- Experience with apprenticeship programs, workforce development partnerships, or grant-funded initiatives (e.g., California ETP)
- CPTD, ATD, SHRM, coaching, or instructional design certifications
- Organizational development, succession planning, or change management program experience
