Department Description:
The Acquisitions Department oversees the sourcing, evaluation, and structuring of independent and international film deals for Sony Pictures Classics.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with writing coverage for scripts and finished films for the Sony Pictures Classics Acquisitions team
- Research on upcoming titles
- Market research projects
- Provide support on administrative duties
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree - In lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience
- An interest in, and knowledge of, American independent & International films
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Must be proficient in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint (familiarity with Adobe suite is a plus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong administrative and organizational skills (scheduling, database management, data entry)
- Excellent communication skills
- Has the confidence to articulate thoughtful opinions about projects while remaining open to alternative perspectives and eager to learn the nuances of the business.
- Possesses strong computer skills across both PC and Mac platforms, as well as a solid understanding of social media and the broader digital landscape.
