WCPO, the ABC affiliate in Cincinnati, OH, owned by the E.W. Scripps Company, is searching for the right person to fill a Traffic / Meteorologist role. This person will collect all traffic data to create compelling traffic reports for morning newscasts. After that, it will be time to focus on weather, analyzing meteorological data gathered by satellites and radar to present reports and forecasts for viewers. This person will also be asked to anchor the weather on a fill-in basis. WHAT YOU'LL DO:
-
Prepare and deliver daily traffic reports utilizing all available traffic information.

Prepare and deliver weathercasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.

Assist management in evaluations of potential new weather data gathering and presentation computers.

Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates interrupting regular programming as necessary.

Prepare and deliver all weathercast materials over a variety of mediums, including, but not limited to: TV, Radio, the web, and social media.

Help viewers navigate traffic congestion by providing alternate routes and saving viewers’ time.

Deliver urgent information about traffic on digital and social media platforms.

Receive assignments and evaluate leads and tips to develop story ideas related to traffic and weather.

Report live from event sites or mobile broadcast unit.

May write and produce quality news and weather stories for multiple media platforms.

May report, write, capture visual content, edit, and produce stories for multiple platforms on deadline, such as Internet and digital channels.

Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Bachelor’s degree in meteorology preferred

Generally 3+ years experience in related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

Computer literacy, including weather and newsroom computer systems

Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment

Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills

Proficient at posting content to various websites

Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
