Job Description

The Traffic Control Officer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians in the main drive area. This includes enforcing traffic flow in designated lanes, assisting guests, working with valet attendants, and ensuring fire lanes and emergency access remain clear at all times. 

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Directing vehicle movement at entry/exit points on the main drive.
  • Inspecting and reporting potential road hazards or infractions of traffic safety measures.
  • Ensure fire lane remains clear.
  • Ticket vehicles not in compliance.
  • Multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicating effectively with the public and team members using radios and other telecommunication devices.
  • Coordinating with law enforcement and emergency responders during incidents that affect normal traffic flow.
  • Operating and transporting traffic control signs and barrier materials to and from various locations.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
  • Other duties as directed by the Security Director or his/her designee.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 

Typical physical / mental demands

  • Normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Normal hearing with or without corrective hearing aids.
  • Acute sense of smell and sound.
  • Excellent attendance to include the ability to work flexible hours and respond to call ins.
  • Further physical requirements include, but are not limited to, standing, kneeling/crouching, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, grasping and reaching.
  • Ability to perform duties within hot to normal to cold temperature ranges and unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be noisy and wet.

Additional Information

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of safety practices, including first aid and all applicable safety standards for public facilities.
  • Working knowledge and basic understanding of local, state, federal and gaming laws.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • Must maintain a valid Gaming Work Card, Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM) and Nevada Driver License throughout employment.
  • Have interpersonal skill to deal effectively with all business contacts. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Education Requirements

  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Desirables

  • Preferred three (3) years of experience in casino security or law enforcement field.
  • Preferred experience and Experience in a similar role is often required or preferred.
