- Ensures that jobs are being completed according to established guidelines and practices.
- On a daily basis, maximizes commercial inventory so that stations receive the most dollars for each unit avail as possible. Prelims day-parts as necessary. Places bump spots or pre-empts spots in a timely manner.
- Communicates inventory problems in advance to the Director of Sales and the appropriate station Sales Manager.
- On a daily basis, places and processes spot orders into system by maximizing commercial inventory.
- Troubleshoots orders for accuracy. Communicates errors or problems. Works with Sales Managers and Account Managers to answer questions, correct errors, gather information and communicate availability of inventory
- Oversees the input of programming for program/commercial log so it is completed in a timely manner with actual listings of real inventory available for sale.
- Manages inventory including maintenance of inventory codes, creating new codes and comments and making changes if oversold. Helps input information as needed.
- Responsible for daily preparation of error-free program/commercial logs using prescribed broadcast software.
- Ensures each commercial spot placed does not have a product conflict, is airing within the correct time period, and order/advertiser separation guidelines are followed.
- Communicates any errors to the appropriate Account Managers for correction if needed. Ensures program information is accurate and specific conditions are met.
- Reviews daily log comment sheets and makes necessary adjustments for accurate log reconciliation.
- Replaces missed spots on available logs when possible.
- Maintains sales reports for Sales Managers. Creates, prints and distributes appropriate reports on a daily basis.
- Maintains political audits during political windows.
- Is available for questions and problem resolution 24/7
- Along with Director of Sales, develops departmental guidelines and practices. Communicates to others. Revises as needed. Makes recommendations as required.
- Works cooperatively and professionally with a variety of individuals including Operations, Engineering, Programming, and Producers, Creative Services, Production, Accounting, Account Managers and Sales Managers.
- Reports to work on time and works established schedule/hours.
- Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules as needed. Works on other traffic and/or sales projects as assigned. Attend and participate in weekly sales staff meetings and individual meetings as needed.
- Acts in a professional manner when representing station.
- Log reconciliation
- Work remotely with occasional office visits
- Assign creative copy for all local and national broadcast clients
- Manage workflow through a paperless production order system (vCreative)
- Upload scripts and documentation for co-op clients
- Interpret client instructions to ensure accurate scheduling of commercials
- Coordinate live reads and endorsements with on air talent and production teams
- Maintain strong communication with Account Executives and clients to ensure accuracy and timely delivery
- Other duties as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required. College degree preferred.
- 5+ yrs or more of proficient, accurate data entry skills (alpha and numeric) in a clerical or sales setting required MS Windows based computer experience required
- Previous broadcast or traffic experience Marketron preferred
- Experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role preferred
