Department: Global Trade Compliance (GTC) / Legal & Compliance
Reports To: Director of Legal, Korea & Taiwan
- Ensure compliance with Taiwan Customs, U.S. export control regulations (EAR/ITAR), and other relevant trade laws.
- Maintain and update local import/export compliance procedures, documentation, and licenses.
- Conduct screening of customers, distributors, and vendors using approved denied-party and restricted-party lists.
- Review product classifications under HTS, ECCN, and export control jurisdictions, coordinating with global classification teams.
- Ensure compliance with Taiwan import regulations, including licensing and permit requirements for biological products, medical devices, telecommunications/wireless devices and hazardous goods, through coordination with relevant internal compliance functions and local regulatory authorities (e.g., TFDA, BOFT).
- Manage customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers to ensure adherence to trade compliance requirements.
- Support shipment clearance and documentation processes, ensuring accurate country-of-origin and valuation declarations.
- Work with business units to validate that shipments and transactions align with license or permit requirements.
- Support due diligence reviews for third-party distributors and suppliers in coordination with the Global Compliance and Legal teams.
- Assist in internal and external trade compliance audits and follow up on corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports required for government filings or internal compliance tracking.
- Identify potential compliance risks and recommend corrective measures to strengthen internal controls.
- Provide training and guidance to local employees on customs regulations, export controls, and corporate trade policies.
- Serve as a local point of contact for trade-related queries and collaborate with the Global and Asia-Pacific Trade Compliance Team on cross-border issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Law, or related field.
- Confirmed experience in import/export compliance or logistics operations.
- Familiarity with Taiwan’s customs laws, free trade agreements (FTAs), and import/export permit requirements.
- Knowledge of U.S. and EU export control regulations preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Proficient in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written).
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Export Specialist (CES), Taiwan Customs Broker License) is a plus.
- Prior experience in a multinational life sciences, manufacturing, or technology company.
