Trade Compliance Manager
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping compliant and efficient cross-border trade operations. You will support local enterprises in adhering to ABB’s trade policies and assist with the implementation of our Global Trade Program. Every day, you’ll safeguard compliance with import/export regulations and support smooth international transactions. Your knowledge will shine as you develop and maintain procedures for export control, sanctions, and customs compliance, helping ABB stay ahead in a complex global market.
The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid
This role is contributing to the Medium Voltage System Drives, Motion High Power Division, in Untersiggenthal, Switzerland.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Providing VAT and customs support for cross-border trade (transactions, contracts, projects), ensuring compliance with regulations and internal guidelines, in close collaboration with the tax department.
- Supporting local implementation of the ABB Global Trade Program, including export control, customs, and sanctions.
- Managing SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) workflows, covering screening, block/release processes, and license management.
- Performing basic product classification for import/export purposes (HTS/ECCN/EKN) and facilitating seamless connection between trade compliance and daily operations, including master data requirements and supplier qualifications in collaboration with staff in the assigned area.
Qualifications for the role
- You have a Bachelor’s degree or a federal diploma in foreign trade, or equivalent experience in logistics or trade.
- You possess basic knowledge of VAT regulations related to cross-border trade.
- You have direct experience with SAP GTS and a comprehensive understanding of global trade regulations, including export controls, sanctions, and customs.
- You are familiar with product classification (HTS/ECCN/EKN) and import/export documentation.
- You are detail-oriented, innovative, and solution-focused in your approach to issues.
- You are highly organized with keen efficiency and professionalism, having proficient collaboration and communication skills.
- You are fluent in English and German, and additional languages are beneficial.
