ASML operates in a complex global landscape where compliance, geopolitics and supply continuity come together. In this role, you will shape how ASML anticipates and manages critical material and trade-related risks. You will work across senior stakeholders to translate global regulations and geopolitical developments into clear direction, ensuring that our supply chain remains resilient and future-proof.
As Trade Compliance Manager & Risk Management, you will drive a strategic risk-mitigation and governance agenda for ASML’s most critical materials and supplier dependencies. You bring structure, clarity and stability in a dynamic environment, working across clusters, SS&P, Trade Compliance, Legal, D&E and senior business leaders.
You will balance governance with practicality: ensuring compliance requirements are embedded in sourcing processes while keeping solutions workable for the business. You create alignment where interests differ, bring nuance in situations that may appear black-and-white, and provide leadership during escalation and uncertainty.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a structured program to assess global material dependencies, associated risks and geopolitical exposures.
- Develop and drive strategic mitigation approaches (e.g., diversification, alternative sourcing, localization, inventory strategies).
- Translate trade regulations into clear, scalable processes that support continuity of supply.
- Align senior stakeholders across clusters and functions, ensuring decisions are coordinated and embedded in the business.
- Strengthen governance by integrating trade compliance checkpoints into sourcing workflows and procurement practices.
- Provide clear, senior-level communication and reporting that supports decision-making.
- Build capability across teams by guiding buyers, category managers and technical stakeholders on risk and compliance implications.
Education and experience
To thrive in this role, you bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business or a related field.
- MBA is a plus, not mandatory. 5+ years in procurement/supply chain roles with trade compliance exposure
- 5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement or trade-related roles within a global environment.
- Strong understanding of trade regulations (e.g., export controls, customs, sanctions) and how they translate into operational impact.
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes and align multiple senior functions around shared objectives.
- Experience in high-tech or similarly complex industries is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to bring structure during ambiguity, stabilize escalations and move teams from reactive to proactive action.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence without authority.
Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- The ability to synthesize complex risks into clear direction for the business.
- Learning agility: curiosity, adaptability, cross-functional collaboration and comfort with new, first-time situations.
- A balanced approach to governance and business impact, creating workable solutions rather than constraints.
- Confidence to stand up when needed, build trust, and steer diverse stakeholders toward aligned outcome
