The Role
Position Overview:
- Aramco Trading Americas (ATA) is seeking a Trading Desk Analyst to join our Crude Oil Trading Team. This position provides an excellent opportunity to partner and work directly with a strong commercial team being the interface for the desk with commercial, scheduling, risk management, and finance. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, have a high level of intellectual curiosity, and a passion for analyzing results to drive P&L improvement for ATA.
Responsibilities:
- Support refinement of the Crude Oil Trading P&L by assisting traders with SAP deal entry and amendments to ensure accurate recording of trading transactions
- Develop fundamental trading models and communicate regular trade ideas to Desk
- Manage daily position reporting for front office by reconciling profit and loss statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain exposure records and monitor changes in market conditions to inform trading decisions
- Ad-hoc report generation and analysis to summarize trading activities and performance trends
- Liaise between front & mid office to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of trading transactions, and analyst financial data relevant to trading activities
- Assist in managing KPIs
- Develop systems knowledge and training material
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Sciences, etc.
- At least 1 year of experience in related energy and/or industrial sector (oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, trading)
- Advanced skills in Excel with Excel/Power BI
- Basic understanding of financial trading including hedging/speculative/price forecasting instruments such as derivatives, futures, options, TOC and various credit instruments
- Familiarity with economic evaluation and analysis as well as comprehension of concepts such as NPV, value creation, and option value is desirable
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written skills
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
- Work in office-based environment, located at ATA’s corporate center in downtown Houston, TX
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a trading environment (trading analysis and/or risk management analysis)
- Experience working with an ETRM, Right Angle and/or SAP preferred
- Knowledge of financial derivative instruments such as futures & swaps
- Experience performing data mining and modeling with Excel
