Software Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Software Development Engineer to join our IT Development team. In this role, you will primarily focus on automating testing for our new applications built with .NET for the backend, React for the front end, and hosted in Azure. You will have the opportunity to ensure our applications meet the highest quality standards. As you grow in the role, you will progressively transition into feature development, where you will be responsible for building front-end pages in React and creating backend API calls using C#. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to expand their skills in software development, testing automation, and cloud technologies.

You will be working in a collaborative and supportive environment, receiving mentorship from senior developers to help you grow and advance your skills in C#, React, and Azure.

Position Responsibilities

• Automate testing for both the backend (.NET) and frontend (React) components of our applications.
• Write unit tests for React applications using Vitest, ensuring code reliability and quality.
• Write backend unit tests for .NET applications using XUnit and Moq, focusing on ensuring backend functionality works as expected.
• Perform manual testing to ensure features and functionality meet the expected requirements and quality standards.
• Collaborate with senior team members to understand system requirements and write effective tests for both new and legacy functionality.
• As you gain more experience, transition into feature development, where you will:
  • Build front-end pages in React, implementing UI components based on requirements.
  • Create backend API calls using C#, ensuring efficient and reliable communication between the front-end and back-end.
• Contribute to process improvements and operational innovations as we modernize our systems.

Required Skills

• 1-2 years of experience in automated and manual testing, with a desire to learn more about software development.
• Basic experience with .NET (C#) and familiarity with React for front-end development.
• Experience writing unit tests for React applications using Vitest.
• Experience writing backend unit tests for .NET applications using XUnit and Moq.
• Familiarity with manual testing techniques and test case creation.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities for identifying and diagnosing issues.
• Basic understanding of Azure or an eagerness to learn about cloud-based development and hosting.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment, with clear communication and a collaborative mindset.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in both testing and software development, with opportunities to move into feature development.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integration of automated tests into the build process.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar cloud hosting services.
• Understanding of API testing (e.g., RESTful APIs) and how to write tests for them.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a growth mindset with a passion for learning.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field or Equivalent educational background
• Experience in software development with exposure to relevant technologies such as React.js, C#, Azure and SQL.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle, design principles, and agile methodologies.
