Base Pay: $33.00-$37.00 per hour
1st Shift: Monday-Friday, 7 am-3 pm

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Track, schedule, and perform/facilitate all preventive and corrective maintenance on extrusion dies, sizers, fixtures, crops, and emboss components ensuring they are always ready for production use. Be the main extrusion facilitator for plant startups and commissioning new equipment. Ensure accuracy and safety in all operations. Develop, document, and distribute to production teams baseline performance operating conditions for all new and rebuilt tooling and extrusion equipment. Continuously monitor production performance to ensure optimal running conditions are being met on all shifts.
- Check and repair dies, fixtures, sizers, and emboss components; remove broken fasteners from tooling
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on extrusion tooling
- Facilitate new tooling and equipment commissioning as well as startup of extrusion lines coming up from extended downtimes
- Train Production Associates in general maintenance of all extrusion tooling
- Optimize the extrusion lines for efficiency and consistency
- Monitor all line performance data and support ongoing Overall Equipment Effectiveness improvement activities
- Work with outside resources to accomplish tasks as needed
- Train new Production Associates and Maintenance Technicians in machine set-ups
- Complete daily forklift safety/damage inspection checks
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required
- Maintain tool maintenance supplies at workstation
- Use assigned timecard daily to accurately record time worked
- Attend weekly shift meetings and/or monthly plant meetings, if required
- Actively participate in all plant safety programs, depending on location
- Work with Maintenance MRO Clerk to ensure proper tools and supplies are available to complete job functions
- Train Maintenance Associates on job functions
- Respond to on-call emergencies as needed
Qualifications
- High school graduate / GED supplemented by machine operator and production experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Machine Operator or Maintenance Technician required; minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Lead Machine Operator or Lead Maintenance Technician preferred
- Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance scheduling and implementation required
- Knowledge of production tooling required. Basic working knowledge of the principles of operation for the extruder and downstream equipment
- Must be able to work and communicate well with others
- Must have measuring skills and problem-solving skills
- Must have correctable eyesight and hearing and be able to differentiate between colors
- Must be able to pass colorblindness test
- Must have excellent mechanical aptitude
- Physical demands include bending, lifting up to up to 86 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist and ability to team lift 87 to 100 pounds, pushing, reaching, standing, twisting, and walking
- Must be able to respond appropriately to immediacy of repairs
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust
- Work involves exposure to rapidly moving machinery
- Constant attention to safe practices is required
- Equipment/Tools Used: Allen wrenches, angle blocks, calculator, calipers, chisels, dial indicators, edge finders, files, hammers, height gauges, micrometers, punches, radius gauges, screwdrivers, scribes, sine bars, tap handles, tape measure, wrenches, safety glasses, hearing protection (where applicable), and steel toed shoes
- A high level of accuracy using all quality measurement tools is essential
- Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times
- Additionally, the proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each Associate’s performance appraisal
