The Tooling Specialist will play a crucial role in our 502-Manufacturing Engineering department. They will be responsible for applying their expertise in cutting tool technology to enhance our manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs. This role requires a strong understanding of tool life, cutting parameters, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Works closely with the Production floor to ensure that the tooling technology is conforming to the validated specifications, process controls and material data sheets.
Follow ups tightly with our floor machinist and programmers to challenge them daily on improving the tooling setup and process to get the best output performance.
Manages the Company cutting tools consumption for tool shop.
Establishes tooling processes and methodologies.
Follow ups constantly with the new tooling technologies proposed by our suppliers.
Analyzes the issues to suggest new recipes for the ongoing and future production orders.
Set ups and follow ups of the cutting tool life cycle and electronic management system.
Follows the new NPI project to propose an innovative new tooling solution.
Works within the constraints of budget, schedule, and scope while managing tool consumption and establishing ERP system with min/max stock.
Look ups new suppliers that will match the Company requirements regarding the tooling needs.
Manages the qualification of tooling and supplies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Interacts with SCM and the Production floor to ensure that the tooling needs are aligned with daily production volumes by analyzing consumption and performance.
Works closely with the Programming department and machinist to define and improve tooling performance in accordance with our processes.
Analyzes the tooling’s life cycle.
Defines and monitors oracle (ERP) inventory level for min/max.
Anticipates cutting tools needs accordingly with the Production Planning changes and forecast.
Manages tooling forecast in collaboration with Production Order to get the necessary tooling proactively
Follow ups of the tooling orders in collaboration with Purchasing.
Establishes cutting tool recipe together with Design Engineering team for the new contactors design.
Satisfies the Engineering and performance requirements as specified in the KPI's.
Works with PE Team on NPI activities to develop new tooling design and live tooling test.
Defines tooling wear, measurement process and traceability.
Benchmarks new tooling solution between the panel of available suppliers
Qualifies new tooling and new suppliers.
Works with existing and new tooling suppliers to reduce cost and lead time and insure follow up for new technology related to coating, design and methodology.
Conducts all activities and behave in a method that is strictly consistent with the company's values, mission and vision.
- Apply cutting tool knowledge to develop and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Program and evaluate cutting tools for test purposes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cutting tools and their application.
- Analyze and interpret data to identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to implement innovative solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in cutting tool technology and industry trends.
- Conduct regular tool life assessments and recommend improvements.
