Job Description
The Software Engineer – Product Definition (Intern) will develop and support software solutions that enable efficient product definition and engineering workflows. You will create and update assembly modules and drawing packages in Siemens NX and build supporting tools such as scripts, APIs, user interfaces, and database-backed applications.
You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing) to collaborate on new designs and understand user needs. You will be responsible for programming components, features, and feature sets, and are expected to work independently, contributing to your immediate team and to other teams across the business.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Develop software tools and automation in a fast-paced, agile environment using modern technologies and infrastructure to support product definition activities
- Provide technical support for existing web and desktop applications, including troubleshooting and minor enhancements
- Participate in technical and program reviews, presenting your work, sharing status, and incorporating feedback
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in our software development processes, tools, and workflows
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve issues, exchange technical information, ask clarifying questions, and ensure mutual understanding
- Apply general business and engineering knowledge to understand how your team’s work contributes to broader product and organizational goals
- Resolve issues using established procedures and consult supervisors or senior engineers for topics outside defined parameters
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Software Engineering, or a related field, with at least 1 year remaining before graduation
- Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Solid understanding of programming principles, design patterns, and best practices
- Experience with the software development life cycle (requirements, design, implementation, testing, maintenance)

•Ability to understand and use software frameworks that integrate with advanced CAD/CAM/CAE platforms
• CAD/CAE software knowledge, preferably Siemens NX
• Experience upgrading, configuring, and debugging existing systems using .NET languages (e.g., C#)
• Experience with two or more object-oriented programming languages, such as Java, Python, C#, C++
• Experience with databases (e.g., MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar)
• Ability to document, plan, and execute software tasks and small projects independently
