Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the activities required to achieve product safety and environmental compliance across the U.S.. They will provide technical expertise that supports TEL product safety guidelines and be an advocate for environmental compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Applies direct knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering and systems controls engineering to help ensure TEL US designs are robust and fail safe (e.g. not fail to danger).
- Facilitates the management of change (MOC), within the design review process.
- Reviewing the designs and taking responsibility to improve the process workflows / efficiency for the engineering teams.
- Utilizes complex methods for both hazard identification (e.g. What-If, FMEA, HAZOP, etc.), and follows up with detailed risk assessment (SEMI S10, ISO 12100) of those hazards.
- Proactively takes actions to identify and provide the logical details so that others see the tradeoffs and risks towards accepting or rejecting proposed design changes, and always takes the time to thoroughly investigate these details and options before helping engineering to make their final decision.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on international product design requirements, regulations, standards, and guidance and ensure effective communication to the project teams and management.
- Investigates new regulations, and researches new design requirements to act as an internal TEL engineering department knowledge “resource”.
- In collaboration with the corporate Product Engineering teams, helps create innovative, custom TEL engineering training courses that summarize and clarifies differences of interpretation of the numerous design codes.
- Mentors, coaches and educates selected TEL managers and design engineers on the new, specific knowledge they will need to ensure TEL equipment compliance to the various international design standards.
- Participates in the formal SEMI Standard writing and voting process, to ensure new revisions to the SEMI standards are value added for all TEL engineering teams.
- Review and approve engineering change orders (ECOs), technical documents, test protocols and reports, risk management documents, and other documents as a key member of the project teams.
- Prepare high quality presentation materials and training materials to meet project objectives and for internal and external communication.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering or equivalent major.
- 5+ years of relevant industrial, experience in a highly regulated import/export sector, preferably within Semiconductor Industry.
- Familiarity with worldwide Product regulations and applicable laws.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate to senior management regarding design and environmental requirements and the management of risk to company.
- Knowledge and experience with mechanical/electrical drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with business leadership team to set priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including a demonstrated ability to clearly provide written reports that identify and quantify risk as well as present sound solutions.
Physical Requirements:
Job duties may be occasionally performed in a clean room environment. Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds may be required.
Occasional domestic or international travel ( 25%) to various locations may be required.
