Hourly base pay rate is $18.17 - $27.31/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process and re-assign titles for vehicles sold by the auction.
  • Examine vehicle title for accuracy and conformity to specified requirements.  Verify acceptance of the title in the state for which it is filed.  Confirm accurate title VIN number, odometer reading, releases of liens, and that titles contain no alteration, etc. 
  • Determine negotiability of title document and assess for potential fraud.  Report any title discrepancies.
  • Resolve titling issues through interaction with customers, dealers, and regulatory agencies.  Work with manager/supervisor to negotiate price adjustment between buyer and seller for a title problem, if necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of current DMV laws and regulations as they relate to vehicle titles and interpret titling regulations in each state for which vehicles are processed.
  • Receive and route telephone calls in a courteous and efficient manner to the appropriate personnel or department.
  • Perform other duties such as processing sale day transactions using the AS400 and providing customer service.
  • Run outstanding title reports, review, and contact sellers regarding outstanding titles. 
  • Issue gate passes for no-sale vehicles and purchases. 
  • Assist with sale day balancing activities.
  • Run 15-day outstanding title report for consignment vehicles sold without title. Match invoices against report and contact sellers to obtain title. Notate title status in system.
  • Assist with title and check audits. 
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.  Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime (more than 40 hours per week) as business needs dictate.
  • Travel as needed

Qualifications:

Minimum

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.

  • OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and up to 1 year of experience;

  • OR 5 years’ experience in a related field.

  • Effective communication skills and a strong customer service attitude.

  • Bending and light lifting 10 lbs. or less

Preferred

  • Must have strong organizational skills and be very detail-oriented

  • Previous vehicle title experience and title handling

  • Ability to recognize title brands and other relevant notations related to titles is a requirement

  • Ability to type and use 10-key proficiently required

  • Sitting and standing for extended periods of time

  • Extensive detail handwritten and computer work

  • Willingness to become an Notary is desired

To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. Skills Required

  • Knowledge of DMV laws and ability to interpret state titling regulations.
  • Ability to perform bending and light lifting (10 lbs or less); sit/stand for extended periods and perform detailed handwritten and computer work.
  • Must clear pre-employment drug test.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (no OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship).
  • Experience using AS400 and ability to type/10-key proficiently.
  • Previous vehicle title handling experience and familiarity recognizing title brands and notations.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented; willingness to become a Notary desired.
