We are a relationship-driven company seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Title Paralegal to join our Title Team. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and take pride in delivering exceptional service, we’d love to meet you. 

Title Paralegal Job Summary:

The Title Paralegal will review title exams provided by the title abstractor, as well as prepare title documents to include title commitment, tax certification, 24-month chain of title, and any other documents required in accordance with instructions from the lender, title underwriter and/or Title Attorney ("TA"').  

Specific Responsibilities: 

  • Review title exams following the firm's checklist and/or Title Attorney direction. 
  • Enter appropriate data into Qualia to produce title documents.
  • Communicate potential defects and/or title issues to the appropriate title underwriter and/or TA. 
  • Enter notes into Qualia regarding actions taken or to be taken. 
  • Seek assistance from the Assistant Closing Paralegal and/or Title Assistant to obtain information necessary to rule out liens and/or judgments. 
  • Notify Closing Paralegal and Closing Attorney of potential issues and actions needed prior to closing.
  • Prepare title documents to include the title commitment, tax certification, 24 month chain of title, and any other documents required in order to ensure clear title prior to closing. 

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year experience reviewing title exams and title documents.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills that is effective and conveys accuracy.
  • Critical thinking skills: ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternate solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. 
  • Actively seek ways to help others. 
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to pinpoint defects and/or potential issues.
  • Maintaining calm and respective demeanor in communication, including being flexible and adjusting actions in relation to circumstances and others.
  • Ability to use a shared computer application for internal communications, shared files and training materials.
  • Ability to manage a large number of orders including inputting data, retrieving records and managing tasks as related to the files.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential, and experience with Qualia is highly desirable.
  • Applicant must live in South Carolina and preferably within 1 hour from any of physical locations.
