Compass Integrated Services is seeking an experienced, high-caliber Title Examiner / Title Officer to join our National Operations Title Production Team. This remote hybrid role combines hands-on title search and examination production with high-level underwriting decision-making, complex problem resolution, and client management. Serving as a key technical resource, the ideal candidate will bring strong title examination experience in Colorado (CO) markets, handling comprehensive residential, commercial, and acreage title examinations while providing upper-level guidance on complex title issues, rate applications, and underwriting decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Title Search & Examination: Conduct thorough searches and examinations of public records, title plants, county websites, and record-searching platforms to assess property title status for residential, commercial, and acreage (metes and bounds) transactions across Colorado markets.
  • Document Analysis & Interpretation: Review and interpret complex real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, surveys, mortgages, deeds, probate records, and trust agreements.
  • Insurability & Underwriting Decisions: Make authoritative insurability decisions, translate title insurance guidelines, apply title endorsements, and resolve objection letters, indemnity requests, and title defects.
  • Rate Calculation & Compliance: Accurately calculate title product rates and fees using underwriter rate manuals and rate filings in full compliance with state statutes or and Title Insurance Regulations.
  • Departmental Leadership & Collaboration: Serve as a go-to decision maker for complex title matters, collaborating closely with the Title Production Manager, Closing Officers / Settlement Officers, Title Team Members, and Underwriters.
  • Policy & Post-Closing Production: Issue pro-forma policies, assist in formal policy production, and manage post-closing title requests and revisions.
  • Client Relationship & Service: Maintain exceptional service levels with internal teams, real estate partners, affinity groups, and external clients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Title Producer / Insurance License in Colorado (or willingness/ability to obtain reciprocal/additional state licensing).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in title examination, production, and underwriting support in Colorado.
  • Demonstrated expertise across Residential, Commercial, and Acreage (metes and bounds) examinations.
  • In-depth knowledge of CO Statutes, Title Insurance Regulations, legal terminology, and underwriter standards/guidelines.
  • Proficiency with title plant systems (e.g., SKLD / Title Data, regional plant software), Deed Plotter software, and county government websites.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-centric focus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment, prioritizing according to departmental guidelines and consistently meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dual state licensing or combined experience in both Colorado and Missouri markets.
  • Familiarity with Qualia Title Production System.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proven track record in leadership support or elevated underwriting decision-making.

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 10 years in the title insurance business.
  • Colorado Title Insurance License.
  • Strong understanding of title examination processes, procedures, documentation, and effects on title.
  • Experience with Commercial, Residential and Acreage (metes and bounds) examinations in Colorado.
  • Proficient in region-specific title plant software and Deed Plotter software.
  • Experience researching and utilizing County government websites.
  • Strong research and investigation skills and understanding of legal terms, underwriter standards, guidelines and rate filings, and statutes affecting title insurance and real property.
  • Attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, meet deadlines, follow procedures and manage changing priorities.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams and Title Production software.
