Duties & Responsibilities:
The internal application and solution engineering team addresses the most challenging technical and application issues with VIAVI high speed Ethernet products. Based in our lab in Eningen, Germany you will work closely with R&D and the field applications team to address Ethernet and PHY layer issues our customers see as they develop and bring up advanced Ethernet at speeds of 800GbE and above.
Using our advanced application lab you will be responsible to resolve the most demanding technical problems with our customers as they debug their products. Understanding the latest IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards coupled with solid physical layer (BER, signal integrity) experience and experience of Ethernet product development and debug are the key things that will required in this role.
This position is would be a progressive move for design engineers looking to move into a more hands on, customer facing role. For an experienced applications engineer this is your chance to work in an industry leading team preparing the path for advanced AI systems to be deployed at Hyperscales.
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Strong experience with Physical layer testing of high-speed Ethernet (100GE+) and understanding of IEEE802.3 with working knowledge of PCS technologies such as FEC.
Practical experience of H/W bring up and troubleshooting of high-speed Ethernet interconnecting.
Desire to develop a deep understanding of the ONE LabPro and Transport products and their use cases.
Understanding on networking principles, including the OSI model and network protocols.
Proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Degree (e.g., electrical engineering, computer science) or equivalent work experience.
Fluent English & German language skills.
