Job Description:
The setup machinist is responsible for doing setups for CNC machines (Bridge mill/ large boring bars), reviewing condition of tooling, as well as having the ability to operate CNC equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be proficient in making required setups, reading of blueprints, drawings, and specifications, and utilization of close tolerance measuring instruments needed in performance of duties of the position.
- Must have a complete knowledge of cutting tools including, but not limited to, drills, milling cutters, boring and turning tools, end mills and reamers.
- Responsible for reviewing all raw materials prior to the start of the setup of the CNC machine tool.
- Responsible to partner with leadership to ensure machine tools are fully utilized for the area of responsibility.
- May be required to make some ordinary tools, jigs or fixtures as directed.
- Must provide sufficient basic hand tools to properly perform the duties of the position.
- Must exercise care in preventive maintenance on tools or equipment assigned as part of the position's responsibility.
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- A technical degree/certificate in machinery or 2-3 years of related experience.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not directly supervise other associates.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Bend, squat, climb, grasp, reach, lift, or otherwise move about frequently and for extended periods of time.
- Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. regularly, or more occasionally.
- Walk, stand, or otherwise move about continuously.
- Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require personal protective equipment.
- Grasps items and performs keyboarding for the occasional operation of a computer.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
