General Duties
Accept and sort donations.
Tag, hang, and place on sales floor sorted donations
Demonstrate solid judgement when determining acceptable donations.
Communicate with Hillcrest Manager regarding incoming donations.
Learn point of sale.
Open and close store and donation center as needed. Hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 6 pm.
Working with volunteers, making their experience meaningful.
Maintain an effective working relationship with staff, volunteers, Hillcrest clients, and customers.
Answer telephone and provide Hillcrest information, directions, meeting the caller’s needs.
Daily cleaning and straightening of Hillcrest donation areas, keeping them neat and clean.
Regular maintenance of Hillcrest equipment and vehicles.
Other duties as assigned.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow written instructions, safety procedures, job aids, and company policies, and to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and volunteers.
Provide attentive listening and clear communication in a retail environment.
Operate basic computer systems and software necessary for retail and operational functions.
Maintain a safe, organized, and productive retail and warehouse environment.
Assist with moving, sorting, stocking, and merchandising donated items.
Support volunteer engagement and supervision when applicable.
Comply with organizational policies, including confidentiality, safety, and operational procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Basic computer literacy.
Must pass a criminal background check, sexual offender registry check, and drug screening.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain current automobile insurance, and maintain an acceptable driving record.
Retail, thrift store, or resale experience.
Volunteer management experience.
Experience working in ministry, nonprofit, or mission-driven environments.

What We Do
Hillcrest Transitional Housing is a non-profit organization dedicated to solving homelessness in the greater Kansas City metro area. It provides homeless families, singles, and youth with disciplined educational programs and supportive housing services. Through transitional and rapid re-housing initiatives, the organization aims to move clients from homelessness to self-sufficiency, helping them become self-supporting and self-reliant contributors to society.
