Position Overview:This opportunity is a unique 20-month heavy equipment technician diploma program designed to provide technical training to meet the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Examination requirements for Heavy Equipment Technicians, and offers students first-hand theory and technical training focused on CATERPILLAR (CAT) equipment. Students gain advanced technical knowledge and hands-on skills directly related to CAT equipment and upon graduation are ready to work anywhere Finning has opportunities in more than 40 locations across Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, N.W.T and the Yukon. Successful candidates will be paid at 1st year apprentice rate for semesters 1-4 and at the 2nd year apprentice rate for semester 5. Each successful applicant will receive paid tuition, books and apprenticeship exam fees.

Admission Requirements
- High School Diploma preferred (GED or Certificate of Achievement will be considered on an individual basis)
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (Landed Immigrant)
- Completion of the Candidate Profile Package - with Northwestern Polytechnic
- Successful completion of the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT)
- Successful Interview with the program coordinator and Finning representatives
- Physical Demands Testing (and Drug & Alcohol testing where required for site access)
ThinkBIG is administered through NWP, located at the Fairview Campus in Fairview, Alberta and supports Alberta and our British Columbia locations.
