Therapeutic Specialist – Liver/IFI

The position :

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial Team as a Therapeutic Specialist to be responsible for Gilead’s market leading Liver and Invasive Antifungal Infections (IFI) treatments in Brussels, Wallonia and Luxembourg.

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Driving launches and growth of Gilead’s Liver and IFI portfolio in the assigned territory
  • Represents Gilead’s products and services to a defined customer base within a specific geographic area
  • Utilizes a level of product and therapeutic disease working knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products to healthcare professionals
  • Prepares business plan and account plans for own territory, assigns targets and communicates required actions to achieve goals
  • Responsible for achieving coverage and frequency targets and consistently achieving performance objectives in assigned territory
  • With guidance, initiates systems to monitor performance evolution and action plans.
  • Represents the company at national and international professional events, according to current local laws and industry regulations
  • Works as an individual contributor and comes pro-actively with innovative solutions for business issues
  • Builds and extends business relationships with key customers, accounts and local key opinion leaders
  • Works cooperatively with Marketing, Medical Affairs, External Affairs, Business Analytics and other internal Gilead team members on various cross-functional projects related to specific accounts or physicians
  • Assists in the identification and resolution of issues and opportunities, and communicates proactively to marketing and sales management
  • Completes necessary administrative tasks in a timely manner eg updating customer database, call reporting and expense reports
  • Responsible for achieving the competency levels required in the role.
  • Compliance with all regulatory agencies, regional and federal law is required.

Education, knowledge, experience and skills

  • Typically requires a degree in Life Sciences and extensive relevant and selling experience within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, Hospital Specialty Care
  • Prior experience in the domain of Liver and/or Invasive Fungal Infections is an asset
  • Prior experience and strong track record of selling in a highly complex specialist disease area and a competitive environment are required. Candidates should demonstrate impeccable selling ability and fair, balanced communication at all levels.
  • Proven expertise in interpersonal and relationship building skills is required, along with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with a general level of autonomy and independence

  • Is familiar with industry trends and remains current with competitor’s resources and practices.
  • Can speak about the pros and cons in a competitive market (overall goals of plan, cost vs. efficacy, dosing, duration, side effects etc.) according to the marketing/sales strategy.
  • Is able to identify rising issues / solutions / opportunities and is able to present / communicate arguments to management/marketing.
  • Demonstrates solid analytical skills, able to identify and understand moderately to complex issues and problems, and interpret information in a manner that provides appropriate recommendations to management and specialists.
  • Feels comfortable to work in cross-functional teams. 
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written French; good knowledge of English
