$20.00 per hour

ASU Gammage is seeking several part-time technical assistants to assist in backstage operations at ASU Gammage, ASU Desert Financial Arena, and other facilities on and off campus as needed. This position reports to the Production Managers and is part time, hourly and requires a flexible work schedule to accommodate events. Ideal candidates will have some hours available during the day during the week as well as nights weekends and holidays. 

Essential Duties:

•    Assist with the operation and maintenance of theatrical facility/rental equipment at ASU Gammage and other venues where our department may hold events 
•    Operate theatrical lighting/audio/video equipment and software, as well as hydraulic /counterweight fly systems
•    Set-up and take down lighting, sound, and video equipment
•    Load and unload trucks
•    Maintain theatrical equipment
•    Transport of personnel and equipment
•    Run errands using university vehicle
•    Light cleaning duties typical of a theatre
•    Perform other related duties as needed

Desired Qualifications:

•    General knowledge of technical theatre and backstage working environment
•    Comfortable working on high ladders, ceiling grid system and balcony rail.  
•    Drive on university business and possess a valid US driver license upon employment. 
•    Good knowledge of the area surrounding the ASU Tempe campus.
•    Set up and take down of lighting, audio, and/or video equipment
•    Running/Operating of lighting, audio and/or video equipment and software

Working Environment:

•    Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and/or lifting up to 70 lbs.
•    Remain standing for long periods of time.
•    Climbing ladders 10-foot tall, working at heights above 40 feet and multiple flights of stairs in one shift.
•    Frequent bending and reaching.
•    Shifts can be over 8 hours long, for consecutive days, as business needs require.
