Role Description

  • Trade Finance & Lending Operations supports the Corporate Bank, Investment Bank and Private Bank across businesses globally for centralized servicing, documentation and trade/lending execution activities, including traditional instruments such as letters of credit, collections and guarantees; and lending lifecycle activities such as due diligence on credit agreements, initial loan funding, rollovers, and settlements of interest/fees/principal.
  • As a Senior Director based in Bengaluru, you will provide senior leadership across a critical operations footprint, driving front-to-back operational performance, risk & control discipline, service delivery, and strategic transformation in partnership with Product, Business and global/regional operations leadership. You will set direction for execution excellence, workforce and capacity outcomes, and continuous improvement—ensuring the operating model remains resilient, scalable and aligned to business objectives.

Your key responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership for the Bengaluru TFL Ops organization, setting clear priorities across service delivery, operational risk & controls, productivity, and transformation aligned to global/regional strategy.
  • Own and drive end-to-end operational performance (quality, timeliness, client outcomes) across trade finance and lending processes; ensure consistent execution of controls and adherence to regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Partner with Product, Coverage/Business, and Operations stakeholders to strengthen front-to-back outcomes and improve client experience—removing pain points, reducing errors/rework, and improving turnaround times.
  • Lead a robust risk & control environment, including operational risk identification, issues remediation, audit/exam readiness, and sustainable control improvements (prevention over detection).
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation (process simplification, digitization, straight-through processing uplift), ensuring measurable benefits and embedded change management.
  • Own workforce and capacity management outcomes: demand planning, productivity, location strategy execution (where applicable), skills uplift, and succession planning for critical roles.
  • Oversee governance and business management cadence: performance scorecards, business reviews, stakeholder updates, and transparent escalation of risks/dependencies.
  • Manage vendor/third-party operational relationships where relevant, ensuring performance to agreed service expectations and strong operational oversight.
  • Build a strong leadership culture: role-modeling collaboration, accountability, and inclusion; coaching senior managers; and driving engagement, talent development and retention across the site.

Your skills and experience

  • Significant leadership experience in banking operations (Trade Finance and/or Lending Operations preferred), with demonstrated accountability for large-scale delivery, controls, and transformation.
  • Strong understanding of trade and lending lifecycle activities, including documentation, settlements, rollovers and operational due diligence expectations.
  • Proven track record of leading large, geographically dispersed teams with end‑to‑end accountability.
  • Strong understanding of operational risk management, regulatory expectations and control frameworks in a global banking environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive large‑scale transformation and measurable efficiency outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior executive level across Business, Product, Risk, Compliance and Technology.
  • Excellent communication, people leadership and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong analytical capability and experience translating data into actionable management insights.
  • Strong strategic thinking with hands-on execution discipline; ability to lead multiple priorities with structure, pace, and accountability.
