Job Summary

The Testing Supervisor is an exempt, salaried leadership position responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the Testing department. This role provides direct leadership to Testing Technicians while ensuring safe work practices, product compliance, manufacturing flow, and on-time customer delivery. The supervisor is responsible for staffing, employee performance, training, attendance management, equipment readiness, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong presence on the manufacturing floor.

The supervisor oversees all functional testing activities including panels, enclosures, communication cables, diagnostics,

repairs, and special projects. Success in this role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, a working knowledge of manufacturing flow, Lean principles, and the ability to spend approximately 75% of the workday on the production floor coaching employees and supporting operations.

The Testing Supervisor will lead the testing technician team, executing functional testing to assure superior product quality. This includes, but not limited to panels, enclosures, communication cable order fulfillment, special request diagnostics & repair as well as the creation and communication of testing forecasts and daily planning. This role will collaborate closely with to execute activities on time, including Fixems dwell time reduction to meet RTS dates: Production, Enclosures, Quality Engineering, Engineering, Project Management, Continuous Improvement Team, Quality Compliance Leader.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Create weekly and daily manpower plans to meet labor and RTS goals: Panels, Enclosures, battery maintenance
  • Develop and maintain the department training plan and cross-training (versatility) matrix to ensure workforce flexibility.
  • Cultivate and improve quality culture within the testing department
  • Collaborate with Quality Compliance leader on daily & weekly reporting
  • Member of Quality Improvement Team to eliminate waste and improve quality
  • Own test communications to appropriate stakeholders: RTS risks, Alerts, Fixems
  • Manage testing equipment: preventative maintenance, repair, new equipment procurement, and collaboration with calibration deputy
  • Develop testing assistant opportunity for greater department flexibility
  • Manage employee timekeeping, attendance, scheduling, performance reviews, coaching, employee development, and corrective/disciplinary actions.
  • Safety leader: Review, emphasize, and enforce all safety procedures in testing
  • Lead containment activities, root cause investigations, and corrective actions while driving Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of manufacturing supervisory experience leading hourly employees.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing flow, Lean Manufacturing principles, and 5S.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated experience managing attendance, employee development, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient at electrical theory for test plan development & troubleshooting

Education & Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading testing, manufacturing, or operations teams preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Leadership training completed in the first 12-months of position

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk on the manufacturing floor for approximately 75% of the workday.
  • Continuous speaking, hearing and visual effort including close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequent standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing and handling
  • Commonly lifting / moving up to 40lbs individually
  • Occasionally lifting / moving 50-100lbs with assistance
  • Exposure to loud noises, drilling, cutting, banging and typical manufacturing production physical hazards
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing
  • Ability to climb a ladder
