The Test Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all testing activities within a designated project or delivery unit. This includes managing test teams, ensuring adherence to defined testing processes, and maintaining visibility into test progress, risks, and resource needs. This includes managing ALL test resources within the project, which will include Test Leads, Test Analysts, Test Engineers, Test Automation Architect, Performance Test Engineers, and Test Automation Analysts. Drive the identification and prioritization of manual test cases for automation and provide strategic requirements to the Test Automation Architect to support scalable and efficient test execution.
The assignment of this role is determined by the complexity and scale of the delivery effort—particularly when multiple test teams are engaged across programs or projects—requiring focused leadership and structured oversight.
The Test Manager works in close partnership with the Test Delivery Manager from the Test Administration team to align project-level execution with enterprise-wide testing strategies, governance standards, and quality objectives set by TCOE. This collaboration ensures consistent delivery, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the testing lifecycle.
Delivery Team Test Management Responsibilities
1. Comply with the ITG Quality Framework established by TCOE
2. Ensure Test Process are followed according to the SDLC and TCOE Test Process
3. Collaborates with Project Managers, ITSD Unit Heads, Development Leads across Unit/Project team to ensure quality delivery and gather resource demands
4. Provide guidance on Test Leads, supervise test teams to ensure consistency in implementing Test Process 5. Gather and report Test Status and represent the Test Team in meetings within and across the Units
6. Identify Risks and Mitigation plan.
7. Prioritize testing activities to ensure delivery of commitments
8. Gather resource requirements for upcoming projects and enhancements of the Unit
9. Plan, control and implement testing processes
10. Define and monitor execution of test tasks and activities
11. Manage schedule, budget and overall test efforts.
12. Provide requirements or demand the need to automate manual testing to the Test Automation Architect.
13. Ensure team adherence to quality metrics and targets defined by the Test Administration team and actively drive performance towards meeting TCOE standards through coaching, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
14. Identify skills requirement of the team, identify training needs.
15. Ensure resource alignment with project needs, skill requirements, and delivery timelines.
16. Conduct regular performance reviews and feedback sessions with both internal and external test resources.
17. Facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure continuity during resource transitions.
18. Drive innovation in testing practices, applying best practices and lessons learned
Requirements
1. Minimum 10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 5 years in a Test Manager or equivalent leadership role
2. Proven experience managing hybrid teams (internal and vendor/external resources)
3. Hands-on experience with test management tools such as Micro Focus ALM, Jira-Xray, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
4. Experience in both Agile and Waterfall delivery models
5. Demonstrated success in managing testing for large-scale, cross-functional projects or programs
Test Leadership: Lead and oversee E2E Test Strategy (from Unit, Integration, System Test, SIT, UAT and Non Functional (e.g. Performance) Testing. Coordinate with cross functional teams and ensure alignment w/ overall program roadmap and milestones.
2. Domain Expertise: Must-have solid experience in Core Banking Systems and Loan Management Systems with proven delivery. Familiarity with legacy-to-modern transition of systems and complex integrations.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration: Strong relationship building with BU and IT Stakeholders.
4. Strategic Testing: Experience in Risk-Based-Testing and ability to tailor specialized test strategies based on project needs and risks.
5. Release and Defect Management: experience in release planning, defect management and test environment coordination
6. Automation and Performance: experience in managing Automation and Pref teams, providing oversight and driving collaboration.
7. Quality Control - responsible for reviewing test deliverables for accuracy, completeness and compliance to BDO Test Standards. Ensures quality assurance across all testing phases.
