As a Test Supervisor at Impulse Space, you will support a wide range of spacecraft component testing while developing and maintaining state-of-the-art test equipment.  You will work closely with a team of technicians and engineers to improve overall test processes across the company.
The test team at Impulse Space is responsible for designing, building, and operating world class test equipment to support the development and production of components and assemblies that will serve in Impulse’s goal of pioneering the future of in-space transportation.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise all Test Area activities to ensure efficient workflow, and maintain safety and quality standards 
  • Lead and manage a staff of ~10 technicians, provide mentorship and performance feedback, and foster a continuous improvement mindset
  • Work with leadership and engineering team to coordinate schedule, resource allocation, and priority while regularly reporting status
  • Maintain and troubleshoot test hardware and shop equipment, calibrate instrumentation, and stock consumables 
  • Perform verifications of flight hardware and document results in a clear, precise and complete manner
  • Respond to production related non-conformances and drive to root cause and disposition 
  • Maintain process planning documents and action feedback when necessary
  • Scale team, assess candidates, and provide feedback on the hiring process


Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of experience working on flight hardware assemblies and/or in a test production environment
  • 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated understanding of the safe operation of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical power systems
  • Experience operating complex test equipment, controls and data acquisition systems
  • Proficient with basic fabrication techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems and implement scrappy solutions


Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering
  • 7+ years of demonstrated professional experience providing support for the production and test of highly complex components and assemblies (e.g. valves, actuators)
  • Experience in mission-critical or specialized environments (labs, cleanrooms, data centers, aerospace facilities)
  • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
  • OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus

Additional Information:
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.

Skills Required
