What you’ll do…
We are seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and analytical Lead, Test Pad Engineer to oversee and elevate our Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) operations. In this critical role, you will lead the testing of our advanced natural gas powered generators and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing departments to ensure our test equipment and FAT Pads perform at the highest operational levels. You will be responsible for maintaining test software, troubleshooting electromechanical systems, and driving continuous improvements in test coverage, quality, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) for natural gas powered generators to ensure they meet strict performance and quality standards.
- Collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Design Engineering to ensure test equipment and FAT Pads meet and exceed operational expectations.
- Identifying areas of test equipment failure and proactively developing comprehensive test mitigation plans to minimize downtime.
- Maintaining and optimizing test software to improve test coverage and operational efficiency across a multi pad landscape.
- Performing detailed data analysis to understand challenges with Units Under Test (UUTs) and advocating for solutions that align with production goals.
- Working closely with product design teams to define optimized test specifications that balance yield and quality.
- Supporting troubleshooting and validation efforts to ensure the sustained performance of the test pads and Units Under Test (UUTs).
- Taking full responsibility for documenting all issues within the quality system, ensuring clear, comprehensive, and actionable documentation.
- Setting up, configuring, and operating complex test setups, software, and instrumentation as required by test plans, test standards, and customer guidelines.
- Directing test technicians on the implementation and deployment of configuration files, procedures, and emissions testing.
- Providing specialist level technical guidance to ensure the successful completion of testing activities and alignment with company requirements.
- Analyzing production and testing data to identify trends, risks, or continuous improvement opportunities.
- Participating in design reviews and providing critical, test centric input to influence next generation product development.
Requirements
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- A two- or four-year technical degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Working level knowledge of engines, with experience in Natural Gas or Diesel engines being highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of power generating systems, with experience in 480V three phase systems being highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Proven ability to lead and direct multiple people during complex testing and validation activities.
- An in depth understanding of electromechanical systems design, troubleshooting, and repair.
- A proven aptitude for data acquisition, analysis, and utilizing test instrumentation to drive decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess a strong passion for solving complex electromechanical and software problems in a fast paced, dynamic production environment.
- Demonstrate a creative approach to engineering challenges, with a proven ability to think outside the box to optimize test pad operations.
- Have a track record of successfully directing and mentoring technicians and junior engineers during intense testing activities.
- Are a highly collaborative team player who can bridge the gap between design engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing floor operations.
